GLACIER COMPUTER ANNOUNCES THAT INFO-COP SOFTWARE
HAS BEEN APPROVED BY THE STATE OF MASSACHUSETTS
Used in Patrol Vehicles, Info-Cop Provides Efficient and Accurate
Information
AMHERST, NH - Glacier Computer, a leading designer,
developer, and supplier of rugged industrial PC-compatible devices,
and Info-Cop, the nations leading provider of in-vehicle software
for use by police officers, have partnered to provide wireless based
information software for efficient and accurate identification.
Info-Cop, which recently received formal approval from the State
of Massachusetts Criminal History Board, runs on Glaciers
sunlight-readable computers and is currently being used in Burlington
and Westford, Massachusetts.
Since early 2005, police departments in Burlington and Westford,
Massachusetts have performed preliminary tests on the Info-Cop software.
Each department has been instrumental in fine-tuning the application
to the needs of Massachusettss officers. Additionally, Glacier
has a long history providing law enforcement professionals with
reliable and durable rugged computers. Together, Info-Cop and Glacier
Computer will provide an invaluable resource for police officers.
Glaciers sunlight-readable computer provides an easy-to-view
display with touch-screen, and is mounted in the dashboard of an
officers vehicle in an airbag-compliant manner.
The Info-Cop software was designed by officers, for officers,
says Dan Puccio, Senior Engineer of Glacier. Within seconds,
police officers can access information, such as displaying mug shots,
looking up six license plates at once, and sharing information with
Info-Cop users nationwide.
Info-Cop provides officers with detailed information at their
fingertips, including matching RMV photos with the name being run,
states Burlington police officer Bill Soda. Info-Cop saves
information which can be retrieved even a week later vital
to filling in the blanks during investigations.
Info-Cop is unique because other police departments in Massachusetts
can access the servers located in Burlington and Westford and switch
from a current software provider to Info-Cop for a minimal cost.
Glacier and Info-Cop will be exhibiting these hardware and software
solutions at the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Show on March 30,
2006 in Boxborough, MA.
We are looking forward to using Info-Cops feature where
an officer can scan a license and have it automatically fill in
particular fields and send a query to the proper agencies,
says Westford police officer, Mike Perciballi. This will save
time, reduce errors, and enhance officer safety in the field.
