Thumb-drive USB Recovery System Allows On-Site reimageing in Eight Minutes

Glacier Computer, a leading designer, developer, and supplier of rugged laptops, tablet computers, and Industrial PC-compatible devices, has developed a portable, easy-to-use thumb-drive USB recovery system for reimageing its GX-Series line of industrial computers. Glacier customers are now able to re-image any forklift or wall-mounted GX-Series computer at its current location in as little as eight minutes.
Glacier Computer manufactures a line of rugged industrial computers used in warehouses, distribution centers, factory floors, and freight carriers. The GX line is traditionally mounted in harsh environments including those with extreme temperatures, airborne contaminants, vibration, and/or shock.
“The thumb-drive USB recovery system will allow our Embedded XP customers to recover a corrupt drive. Drives occasionally need to be re-imaged and this makes it easier on our customers,” states Dan Poisson, Vice President of Engineering for Glacier. “The ability to recover the image without having to take the unit back to a lab allows users to return to work as quickly, and as efficiently as possible,” says Poisson.
Glacier will market the thumb drive and Linux-based recovery utility to new and existing GX customers. The USB solution will work with all Glacier GX 1000, 1200, and 1500 industrial computers.
