Public Safety – Military, Ambulance and Police Car Computers
The Glacier Magnum is an industrial computer aimed at the public safety and is used as a police car computer as well as by the military, fire departments, and ambulances. The Magnum series offers an array of processor options, from a 600 MHz Celeron up to a 1.4 GHz Pentium M, and provides up to 1 GB DRAM. Additionally, these all-in-one industrial computers are airbag compliant, touchscreen enabled, have LCD on/off buttons, and have internal 12VDC converters.
The Magnum series of rugged computers were built with public safety personnel’s needs as the key focus in order to provide the best ambulance, fire, military, and police car computers available.

The Data 911 system is a full-featured emergency and police car computer system capable of running all Windows-based applications. XP Professional is included.
The Power Supply was designed specifically for installation as an emergency or police care computer. It provides constantly regulated 12 volt power to the computer so that it continues to function smoothly even while the starter motor is in operation eliminating undesired restarts and the potential loss of data.
For departments with useful life still remaining in their laptops, but seeking a migration path to the M5 system, the Laptop Interface kit provides such a path. Laptops may be used as the computing engine and transfer the image to the M5 display and keyboard. This allows users to take advantage of all benefits of the display while extending the life of their laptops. When the department is ready to move forward with new equipment, they can do so by adding the M5 CPU and power supply to their existing equipment for roughly half the cost of a complete M5.
The M5 system is a fully mobile, rugged computer that is designed for the rigors and demands of a police car computer. The system is modular, meaning the display, CPU, keyboard, and power supply are separate from each other.
As a police car computer, this is advantageous because:
- The display is mounted in a fully airbag compliant manner.
- The display is fully readable in direct sunlight, but is also dimmable for night use.
- The system saves passenger compartment space.
- The system is more ergonomic to use than a laptop.
- Parts of the unit can be upgraded independently from other parts
- Troubleshooting and service can be accomplished more easily. Spare parts are easily “swapped in” if a component wears out.
- The user has more flexibility in mounting locations, options, and upgrades.
- Components are housed in metal enclosures, providing for a durable and rugged computer.
- No dependence on internal fans as thermally controlled external fans move air across the case for extended life.
